The first report for this month of May is that I had nothing “interesting” to share last month. That explains the lack of April Level Up Log.
With that out of the way, what amazing things happened in May?

Infancy of a project

The UnfinishedProjects forum and wiki are live. The biggest challenge for this project right now is actually its promotion. Our lead project manager, Anthony is currently assisted by the two worst communication folks you can imagine :) This is an awesome, unique project, and we would love for you to take a look. If you want to participate, collaborate, or get help with any of your own projects, joining us is a great way to kickstart things!

Music is following me

Music Assistant

I used to have a Raspberry Pi to listen to radio and local music in my office, but that was not the most convenient approach and kept the experience limited to a single room.
Using Music Assistant - which integrates into Home Assistant in two clicks - allows to:

• rely on a single app to access any music source. The end of app-switching. Music Assistant acts as a unified metadata wrapper.
• switch streaming output with a click or even automation. For example, I can now listen my music in the office and it follows me to my living room instantly. Nothing to reload, no new app to open, no music source to be search again.
• sync streaming outputs. My music can now be played in sync across several devices in the house. Great for parties.

A baby step in local home server

I love the idea of self-hosting, but building a homelab always felt like another rabbit hole I didn’t need even if I secretly wanted to dive into it. Until recently, I just couldn’t convince myself to spend the time and energy setting one up. Then, two weeks ago, I stumbled across casaos . It handles all the heavy lifting for a minimal setup, so I’ve decided to play around with it. We’ll see if a home server actually brings value to my daily life, or if it’s just another excuse I’ve found to tweak technology.
